Brief Overview

The golf section play a number of friendly matches primarily between March – September against local golf clubs from the Avon and Somerset area.

Also matches against neighbouring Police Forces.

We hold an AGM and Force Championships and host and annual charity golf event.

We play some of the best courses in the force at greatly reduced rates.

The golf section have had an eventful year with the number of active members fluctuating between 70-80.

During 2014 Tony Bush and the Force Club managed to secure exceptional membership deals with Mendip Springs and The Bristol Golf Clubs.

The take up of this was very well received especially at Mendip Springs and 36 people have taken up the deal with a number waiting for additional spaces.

We have also managed to arrange a very favourable monthly deal with Farrington Golf Club where a number of current and retired officers are now playing.

We played 7 matches against local clubs within the Force area, and matches against neighbouring forces, Dorset, Devon & Cornwall, West Midlands, Warwickshire.

In July we held the Force Championships at Mendip Springs Golf Club. Due to a number of circumstances the take up was below our usual 50 players with only 34 attending. Actions are being taken to address this and ensure a healthier turnout this year.

In August we held a charity event at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club in aid of The Rupert Fund (which is for families of fallen officers of the RUC).

In November we finished of the year with a two day golfing event at Dartmouth Golf Club which was well attended and provided a fun and light hearted end to the season.
