Our Choir was formed in 1974. We maintain the tradition of choral singing in a pleasant social environment and the choir is under the leadership of a professional musical director and accompanist. We rehearse each Monday evening 7.30pm – 9.30pm in the Lecture Theatre at Force Headquarters, Valley Road, Portishead. The choir has in excess of 40 members. We regularly perform in concert throughout the force area raising money for charitable causes. Our repertoire is varied and consists of varied styles from traditional choral, musical shows, film and popular music from all eras.
Further information about our concert programme, the choir, and our repertoire can be obtained from the choir’s own extensive website www.policechoir.co.uk
In addition we have embraced the digital age and are active on social media. Click on the icons below for further details.
We are looking towards the new season 2017-2018 with a number of concerts already organised as well as a massed male voice choir concert at Wells Cathedral in October.
Our latest concert at Nailsea school on behalf of the Nailsea Lions Club raised £1500 for two worth charities, Riding for the Disabled, and The Stroke Association.
Our future looks good and we always welcome new members. Do not worry if you think you can’t sing, because you can. The ability to hold a tune and sing with a group of like minded individuals is a talent that everyone possesses and our musical team will assist in getting the best from you. There is something very rewarding about singing. Don’t hesitate and put it off, contact us and give it a go, you have nothing to lose, like so many before you – once hooked, its addictive.
We continually welcome new members, and to this end a variety of publicity materials, leaflets, posters and video are available on our main website at http://www.policechoir.co.uk. You do not need to be a trained singer to become a member of the choir.
