Diving

general membership information

Our Scuba Diving Section is for anyone who enjoys recreational diving, mostly in the UK, with occasional foreign trips. We are a friendly bunch and meet socially if we can’t dive.

We are not able to teach you to dive but could suggest a training group or company and give advice if you want to just dive on holiday or make it your hobby. We would be very happy to help and support newly qualified or returning divers to safely gain experience.

Current membership, although low in number, have many years of experience and knowledge including past training experience.  We come from different training organisations ( BSAC, PADI etc).  When weather and visibility allow, we mostly go shore diving, from Torquay to Burton Bradstock with depth up to about 17m. Mostly on weekdays, but always flexible.  There are day and occasional evening dives using dive boats from Portland or Weymouth and we also use Vobster Quay, a disused quarry with all the facilities.

There is lots to see in our British waters including brightly coloured fish and other marine life.  We also help to keep the underwater world tidy by picking up rubbish and lost fishing gear on our dives.
