The choir is truly representative of the force with a membership consisting of serving and retired police officers serving and retired members of the support staff.
We have a professional musical director and accompanist and perform concerts in the community raising funds for local organisations. We act as ambassadors for the force but away from the formal concerts there is nothing the members like better than to sing impromptu performances that have taken place on cross channel ferries in motorway services and in the odd pub or two.
The choir’s repertoire covers a wide range including much love ballads and operatic choruses to arrangements of popular songs from stage and film musicals. Major concerts with other choirs and bands have produced lasting friendships both in the United Kingdom and abroad and forms an important part of the choir’s activities.
New members to the choir are always warmly welcomed. You do not have to be an established singer many current members were not before they joined. If you enjoy music and good company, we will be pleased to hear from you.
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings 7.15pm – 9.30pm in the Lecture Theatre, Police Headquarters, Portishead.
