Sailing Section

The section primarily provides training, recreational sailing and the opportunity for dinghy racing at Police events throughout the country.

The section has two sailing centres, one at Baltic Wharf, Bristol Docks and the other at Chew Valley Sailing Club.

We currently have the following boats which are available for members use.

Baltic Wharf, Bristol. Open daily 7 days a week. 07:30-22:00 1st April to 31st October. 09:00-17:00 1st November to 31st March. Shut Christmas Day!

Chew Valley lake Sailing Club

Sailing at Chew Valley is limited to Wednesday, Saturday and Sundays. During the summer some Thursday evenings are available and will be advertised.

This is a large lake over 3 Km long for sailing. The use of section boats at this venue is only open for members of the sailing section and NOT families as a condition of corporate membership.

As corporate members of Chew Valley Sailing Club, we have some of the benefits of full members and many of the sailing section have completed other courses with Chew Valley Sailing Club i.e. RYA Level 2 Power Boat Course (there is a £25 fee at present to section members) We are also invited to compete in their club racing series throughout the summer.

All boats have road-going trailers (except the Topper) to allow the boats to be sailed at different venues and holiday use.

 Fees: (Reduced if paid by 31st January)

£95 joint membership (£85)

£65 Single (£55)

£35 Crewing (£30)

£35 (£30) if you have your own boat (dinghy) regardless of where it is kept.

We run an annual RYA level 2 Course for unqualified members at an extra cost of £50 (this course costs £300-£400 course generally if done externally).
